Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Defend Your Mouth Day a success. During the event, we helped to educate children in our community about sports-related injuries and the importance of wearing properly fitted mouthguards. We also provided free, professionally fitted mouthguards to all children with appointments.
Why are mouthguards important?
- Mouthguards can prevent more than 200,000 oral injuries each year.
- The types of dental injuries that can occur without the use of a mouthguard include chipped or broken teeth, fractured crowns, lip and cheek injuries, and fractured jaws.
- Mouthguards are mandatory in collision sports where the risk of injury is likely; however, they are also important in incidental contact sports like basketball, baseball, softball, wrestling, soccer, and volleyball.
We look forward to hosting more family-friendly, educational, and fun-filled events in the future.
